So, apparently, Britney is now a lyric-ripper-offer. Or so the Bellamy Brothers are saying.
When Brit's new single hit itunes it started topping the charts, but it also grabbed some attention because it is eerily similar to the 1979 song "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me". As of yet, the Bellamy Brothers are not sure if they are going to pursue legal action, but they are definitely looking into it.
The phrase is originally from a 1950's TV show to begin with so how ANYONE but that TV host Groucho Marx can even begin to jump on the you-took-my-lyrics bandwagon is beyond me.
In my own thoughts:
Bellamy Brothers just wanted some attention, because they really can't get mad for someone doing what they did 30 years ago, and at least Britney had the decency to change it around a little bit and not just use the exact phrase.
However, common Britney, you could have come up with something a little more original. I sometimes think she just needs to quit trying. But then the 13 year old girl rises up in me, and remembers how "...Baby One More Time" held the theme songs to my middle school years.
